I'm not Mom. I'll never be Mom. I have my limitations. But I definitely have learned from her the importance of routine. In that spirit, I thought I would do my best to keep their activities as close to what they are on a typical week. But it is vacation, so I'm not trying to be too strict. I'm trying to make sure they are doing some sort of schooling. Yesterday, Gus and I did a chapter of religion while Beedle did art school, which was drawing Veggie Tales characters--I love the Bonus Features on Veggie Tales DVDs. This morning we journaled. For those of you not familiar, the kids pick a topic, usually something in nature, and then draw a picture and make up a story about it. This really untaps their creative abilities. The boys agreed on the three scarecrows in our yard. Gus did a great job with his art.

He also told the story of when we purchased the scarecrows. He is very articulate and factual.
Beedle, who for copyright reasons asked that his artwork not be placed on the blog, did give us permission to talk about his story. He wrote about a scarecrow that lived a very, very, very long time. Someone stared at it and "he felt uncomfortable". Beedle is a great fiction writer and talks a lot about feelings and emotions. It is a very productive outlet for him.
The boys are doing great. They never cease to amaze me with not only their creativity and intelligence, but also their discipline. Time to go make lunch! Thanks again for the prayers!
