Saturday...Still All About Nate!

Saturday was "Nate Day" again for the Chopins! We started off with our usual Saturday morning breakfast of champions...pancakes! The kiddos had just the right amount of sugar and carbohydrates to energize their little bodies for a day filled with excitement. We (Dado, Gus, Beedle, Gracie & Nate) decided to take a trip to the zoo. According to Nate, this would be his first trip to a zoo. But before we made it to the monkeys (with the monkeys!), we had a civic duty to fulfill. Today was an election day. We had to vote for our City Marshall (Congratulations Nickey Picard!). I explained to the kids why we vote and how it works. The people working the polls always love to see our kids. And as always, they get special recognition for voting. Just for the record, Nate selected Nickey Picard (he actually pressed the button) and Gracie pressed the "vote now" button. Why? Because she's the Princess!

For some reason, voting didn't hold their attention like the thoughts of seeing animals, so we herded over to the zoo. Fortunately we didn't have to go far, as it is only a few miles from our house. There was a big crowd there, but we managed to get in pretty quickly with our family pass (thank you Aunt Khaki & Uncle Eric!). We went from exhibit to exhibit and their eyes seemed to get wider and wider as we moved along. Here are a few pics of their adventure in the zoo...
The animals were a lot of fun. The train ride was exciting, too. But the kiddos seemed to have the most fun at the playground. If you've never been to the zoo (or it's been a while), they've just recently added a huge playground area by the train depot. Here are some pics of the kids "monkey-ing" around...

Reluctantly, we peeled ourselves away from the zoo. We had bigger fish to fry, or maybe chicken nuggets to fry. We went to McDonald's for lunch as a treat to Nate. Just for the record, our family very rarely eats McDonald's. No offense, but we find it pretty disgusting! But, most kids love it. And if Nate wants McDonald's, than he shall have McDonald's (we missed out on years of spoiling him while he was in Orlando!). The kids had their happy meals and got to play on yet another playground. We couldn't daudle long as we needed to get to Grandma Dee's soon. Because, what awaited Nate was none other than...

A birthday party! And not just any birthday party...a Spiderman birthday party! Nate recently turned 5 and some of his cousins and new friends joined to celebrate. The kids got to play games such as a Spiderman version of Pin the Tail on the Donkey and busting a Spiderman pinata. They even had a chance to be Spiderman. Here are some pics...

It was a blast! The kiddos did not want the day with their family to end! There were a lot of tears on the way home. They didn't want to leave their cousin. Saturday was definitely all about Nate!
