What another wonderful day. It takes so little to excite a child. Today was library day and it was a great one! The kids got to learn about July 4th and Mom got to have some quiet time, a rosary, and choice books picked out in leisure. When the kids were finished with class they got get their new prizes for the summer reading program. Beedle knew that this was the final prize and has been waiting impatiently this summer to finish his reading. Mom made things a little more frustrating by giving them only half the reading credits they earn. Nothing beats a good challenge and a chance to teach patience. The other children were quite surprised with the award. They also earned a movie ticket to see Enchanted. They did not get to see this when it came out so they were thrilled. The free ice cream at Chick-a-lay (Gracie's pronunciation) was icing on the cake for them. The thrills continued when we made it home. Workers
were digging up the yard to lay new fiber for the city. Beginning in the new year our city will be in the phone/cable/Internet business. The kids were very amused that the worker had literally dug himself in a hole. They laughed that contagious laugh that reminds adults that they need to live a little. Lunch was postponed, and the schedule put off so that we could enjoy a little gift of laughter. We also were able to share a little and make friends with them by bringing the workers cold apples and bottled water to remind them of simple things as well. It is often a joy to see things through the eyes of children.
