Welcome to the Church, Malia!

A celebration was held on Saturday as Malia Therese Thomas was baptized into the Catholic Church. Malia was surrounded by family and friends as she received the most precious sacrament. The celebrant for Malia's baptism was the very spiritual and full-of-life Fr. Hampton Davis. It was a very moving ceremony and unique in the way so many of us were involved. Fr. Hampton even incorporated Cajun Power into the homily. He is so clever with the metaphor!

The children in attendance also were encouraged to participate. They sang with Fr. Hampton. They all held hands in a circle and prayed for Malia. It's always beautiful to be a part of a ceremony that is very kid-friendly. Fr. Hampton read the Gospel where Jesus encouraged to let the children come to Him. That is what the celebration seemed to be about--a celebration of the innocence of life and the simplistic love of God we are encouraged to have. Mom and I were especially proud of our little ones for being so participatory!

I know I am speaking for Ragan when I say that we are so honored to be Malia's godparents. We thank Coby and Kessie for entrusting to us such an important responsibility and we pray that through our example we can be Jesus to Malia. We will always pray for our little angel and help out in any way we can to make sure that she is supported in her walk with Christ. May God continue to bless our community, our families and most of all, on such an important day, dearest Malia Therese!

This is beautiful!!! I had tears as I read it. I printed out for Malia's baby book. What a blessing to have a Godfather like yourself. Thank you for saying yes--We know and trust that God led us to the right person for Malia
