Big Fun in Butte La Rose

Saturday brought a lot of outdoor fun for Gus, Beedle and Dad--on a day that looked bleak after earlier rain showers. Dad's BNI (Business Networking International) group held a BBQ social for the members and their families. It was held at Danny Landry's uncle's camp in Butte La Rose. Danny was very hospitable. In addition to serving BBQ'd hamburgers, hot dogs, beans and roasted corn, Danny allowed the kids (and adults) to take advantage of some recreational activities--fishing and kayaking. The boys got to fish for a good while. Both Gus and Beedle caught some fish (on their own). Unfortunately Dad was not there with the camera when the fish were caught, but the rumor is they were some record-setting catches. In fact, Dad failed to take a picture of Gus' most amazing catch--a three-foot alligator! Gus fought with him for a few seconds. Fortunately, the alligator was not aggressive; he just ate his cork and swam away. But it's not everyday a kid catches an alligator! After the boys caught their fair share, Danny was nice enough to take them for a ride in his yellow kayak. The boys had so much fun! Dad even got a chance to take it for a paddle or two with his boys. By 6pm it was time to go home. The boys said their goodbyes and headed home to tell their tales to Mom, Gracie and James. A special thanks goes out to all the BNI members and their loved ones in attendance who helped make the day so great. And a very special thanks to Danny Landry for warmly welcoming everyone to his family's camp!

A Dad-o like you are examples of what fathers of today can be like. Your love for your children is evident in all you do for them and with them. What a great day I know the boys will carry that memory around for years to come. Surely Gus will never forget that aligator! Beedle seems like boating was a blast! Great Dads are a treaure, you are Gold.
